How to Pick the Perfect Wedding Jewelry for Your Dress

Getting married is such an incredibly exciting time in your life. You've already found the man of your dreams. You've even chosen the perfect dress, too. What's next? While you may think it's time to move on to flowers or the caterer, you're not quite done with your look just yet. Now it is time to find the ideal jewelry to go with your wedding dress.

The jewelry you pair with your dress will make or break your wedding day look. There's a lot of pressure to get it right, because you'll be looking at photographs of this day for the rest of your life. Here's what you need to know in order to get it right:

What style of dress did you choose?

This is the best place to start your search for bridal jewelry. The neckline plays a huge part in deciding what type of jewelry will go well with it. Just about anything will go well with a strapless or sweetheart wedding gown. Wider necklines, like a boat neck or wide v, pair well with a statement necklace. One of our favorites is the "My Heirloom" Beaded Crystal Necklace. If your dress has thick straps, a high neck, or a narrow v-neck, a large necklace can look cluttered and be just too much. Instead, try a delicate pendant necklace or forgo the necklace all together and instead wear only a pair of glamorous earrings!

What color is the gown?

Before you say "white, of course!" know that most gowns aren't white white. There are different shades of white. As well, there gowns with lots of silver beading. If your gown has beading, try jewelry with cooler tones and silver plating to match. If your dress is a warm ivory or cream color, go for pieces with warmer tones and gold plating. The "Sleek and Sophisticated" Crystal & Beaded Necklace has both, and would be stunning when paired with a strapless gown.

How will you wear your hair?

If you haven't yet thought about your hair, you should do so now that you have your dress. Up-dos are perfect for statement earrings and strapless gowns. If you won't be wearing a necklace and want your earrings to stand out, you'll want your hair up and pulled back. Wearing your hair down is going to hide your earrings, so a down-do will work best if your statement piece is your necklace.

What do you want people to focus on?

If you're wearing a statement necklace, you might want to choose earrings that won't over power them. Most brides don't want both a statement necklace and a pair of statement earrings. Pair a large necklace with studs and bold, drop earrings with no necklace at all.
