Pedaling Through the Five Boroughs

... and Into My Next Big Adventure

This May, I did something I never imagined I would: I completed the TD Five Boro Bike Tour- a 40-mile ride through the vibrant streets of New York City, alongside more than 32,000 fellow cyclists. No cars, no traffic—just us, the bridges, and the beautiful city skyline. It was thrilling, exhausting, joyful, and deeply fulfilling.

Even better? I wasn’t alone.

I had my son Shane and our dear family friend Adam riding alongside me. And let me tell you, the preparation for this tour was no walk in Central Park. Between biking to work and training at the gym (Adam might still be recovering from a few of those workouts!), I challenged my body in new ways and pushed myself far beyond what I thought I was capable of.

This wasn’t just a ride—it was a statement. A reminder that age is just a number, limits are often illusions, and outrageous goals are exactly the ones worth chasing.

Just a warm-up

The Five Boro Bike Tour was a major milestone on my journey, and believe it or not, just a warm-up for what’s next: climbing Mont Blanc in France later this year. Yes, I’m trading in the pedals for hiking boots, and while it’s daunting, I’ve never felt more alive or determined.

What made this ride even more special was sharing it with Shane. Crossing that finish line with my son by my side is a memory I’ll cherish forever. These are the moments that remind us why we show up—not just for the adventure, but for the people we love.

To celebrate this ride and my lifelong passion for cycling, I designed a bicycle pin—a sparkling little symbol of joy, freedom, and forward motion. It’s a tribute not just to this ride, but to all of life’s unforgettable journeys. Jewelry isn’t just something you wear—it’s something you live in. It carries stories, laughter, sweat, tears, and triumph. This pin will forever remind me of this day, this challenge, and the power of saying yes to something bold.

To everyone reading this: set the goal that feels too big. Say yes to the thing that scares you. Train, prepare, dream, and show up. You’re stronger than you think. And the ride? It’s worth every mile.

With sparkle and strength,
Heidi
